Our traditional end of year run, aka the Hamloppet, this time around with a 2020 twist
A number of checkpoints are scattered throughout Dundas and participants have to visit them in order prescribed, there are two routes - 4.1km or 5.5km. The checkpoints are not the traditional flags but holiday decorations set up by the local residents thus the wording visit as opposed to find. What makes the Hamloppet unique is that runners must guess their own time, i.e. how long time he/she thinks it will take to visit all the checkpoints that he/she planned out. Obviously not watches are allowed! Whoever is closest to their predicted time wins the (virtual) Trophy.
Is this 'Grey Zone' compliant?
Yes. Hamilton goes into 'Grey Zone' on December 21. Trips outside home for 'exercise and physical activity' are allowed (considered essential activity). However we ask individuals from further afield to exercise some judgement and stay home (ie please don't make the trip from Toronto for this)

4.1km or 5.5km options
Point to point format. Visit all the checkpoints in order as marked on the map. Course starts and finishes at the same location.
Within 24 hours of signing up, you will be sent an email with MapRunF code for the course distance you specified on registration, details on how race timing will work and details where to pick up your map. Hard copies maps AND question sheet will be stored at a Dontgetlost members house near the start location.
All checkpoints are local residents house Christmas decorations. At each checkpoint you will need to answer a question (ie how many candy canes, colour of the stars in the windows etc). Once completing the course, you will submit your answer sheet in a separate dropbox at the map pickup location!
In order to manage race timing, we will also use MapRunF to track you through the course. This will only be used for time verification, to see who wins the 2020 Trophy.
