EVENT INFORMATION - CLASSIC

A local trail race is using City View Park as the starting point (finish is elsewhere) and the start is 9:30AM. There will not be a problem with parking because the runners are being bused in, but it can be a busy place until they start.
SI RENTALS: can be picked up in the pavilion.

LOCATION: City View Park pavilion (NE corner of soccer fields), 2500 Kerns Rd, Burlington, ON L7P 1P8

MAP: City View Park (2023) and Waterdown (2021). Both maps have had minor updates in fall 2025. City View Park was used for GLO Fest in 2023.

The Classic terrain features mostly open woods, a dense trail network, and very rocky ground, particularly near the escarpment. The visibility and the runnability is good except the areas mapped with dark green. The terrain is presently very dry such that ditches mapped as wet (blue dots) are dry and the few marshes on the map are very dry as well.
There will be some undergrowth to run through, but the visibility will be excellent.

SCALE is 1:7500 for all courses.

COURSES:
Course lengths are:

Novice - 2.4km (8 controls)
Intermediate - 3.8km (8 controls)
Short Advanced - 4.5km (10 controls)
Advanced - 8.3 km (26 controls - description sheet is 155x35 mm)

Loose control description will be available at the start but is also printed on the map.

-
Most leaves have now fallen, which makes the visibility excellent but indistinct trails can potentially be even more indistinct. The leaves can also make it slippery in places. Again, the terrain is rocky in places, especially near the escarpment, with several small crevasses.
-
Advanced course has three different parts and will use two different maps. Part 1 and 3 will be on one map and part 2 on a second map. Both maps will be given at the start showing part 1 and part 2 meaning at one point you will need to take out the map with part 1 and flip it.
-
All courses will cross a busy road twice, and the advanced course will cross a second road two times as well. Please use caution.
-
There are a few fences on the ground, which can be hard to see as you are running through the woods. Be careful.
-
The area has many users including, please share the trails.

START:
First start is 10AM. A start list will be made but it will be possible to change start times on the day of the event if necessary. No starts will be allowed past 11AM. The start will be at the southern parking lot, approximately 200m from the pavilion.
